Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Annechien de Vocht, artistiek leider en regisseur van theatergezelschap YoungGangsters. YoungGangsters maakt al meer dan tien jaar actietheater: fysieke, spectaculaire, humoristische en grillige voorstellingen die spelen op locatie. Met het eigen GangstersParadise, een uniek vormgegeven mobiele thuishaven bestaande uit een tribune, bar en terras trekt het gezelschap langs steden en zomerfestivals. Zo was het gezelschap te zien op Oerol, Festival De Karavaan en Over het IJ-festival. Met hun nieuwe voorstelling 'The Promised Land' stelt YoungGangsters vragen over de betekenis en eigenaarschap van land. Over de clash tussen de kapitalistische visie dat land commerciële waarde heeft en de spirituele benadering dat mens en land onlosmakelijk verbonden zijn. Regisseur Annechien de Vocht reisde af naar de VS, Canada en Suriname en voerde op al deze plekken gesprekken met oorspronkelijke bewoners. Ze bezocht Pow Wow’s,gemeenschappen, reservaten en plekken van spirituele betekenis om inspiratie op te doen.. In 'The Promised Land' staan twee levenswijzen tegenover elkaar en en botsen de belangen van de inheemse bewoners met de nieuwe kolonisten.
