Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met podcastmaker Annegriet Wietsma. Wietsma, maker van podcast 'De Deventer Mediazaak',dook in haar nieuwe podcast 'De zwembadclub' in het verhaal van George, die opgroeide in het naoorlogse Amsterdam, in een arm gezin. Hij zwerft veel op straat rond. Om wat bij te verdienen scharrelt hij met geïnteresseerde mannelijke voorbijgangers. Hij wordt benaderd door een aardige fotograaf die de knaap in ruil voor geld laat poseren. Naakt. De fotograaf neemt hem tevens mee naar een openbaar zwembad waar arbeiderskinderen af en toe een avond mogen zwemmen. En dan krijgt het verhaal een bizarre wending. George loopt tegen de tachtig als Annegriet Wietsma hem voor het eerst ontmoet. Zijn memoires 'Verboden foto's' intrigeren haar. Dagblad Het Parool besteedde er in 2019 al aandacht aan. Een geheimzinnige fotograaf die pornografische foto's maakt van de 14-jarige knul, een zwembad waar hij naakt moet zwemmen, volwassenen uit de culturele elite van Amsterdam die daarbij toekijken, soms meer dan dat. Wietsma wil Georges verhaal uit zijn eigen mond horen. Ze zoekt hem op. De details van zijn herinneringen en de ogenschijnlijk laconieke manier waarop hij ze opdist, verbijsteren haar. Maar: één verhaal is geen verhaal. Is dit werkelijk gebeurd? Ons geheugen kan ons af en toe lelijk voor de gek houden. Ons brein vult de gaten in die in onze herinneringen zijn ontstaan. Er zit maar één ding op. Op zoek gaan naar mensen die het verhaal van George kunnen ondersteunen. In haar zoektocht langs mogelijke getuigen, archieven, deskundigen en verzamelaars van erotica valt Annegriet Wietsma van de ene verbazing in de andere. Wat gebeurde er met het buurmeisje van George? Heeft de beschermvrouw van het beruchte literaire herengenootschap Castrum Peregrini, kunstenaar Gisèle d’Ailly-van Waterschoot van der Gracht, met de zwembadclub te maken zoals een klokkenluider onthult?
