Annemieke Bosman praat met schrijver en theatermaker Annemarie de Gee over haar roman De Gloed. Op een dag ligt er een riviercruiser met vluchtelingen voor de deur. De verteller wil het liefst wegblijven van problemen die niet de hare zijn, maar sinds de boot er ligt lijkt het alsof haar leven – dat tot dan toe vrijwel rimpelloos verliep – onder een vergrootglas ligt. Gedreven door de angst om haar privileges te verliezen, verhoudt ze zich tot deze nieuwe werkelijkheid. Wat volgt is een gedachtestroom waarvan ze altijd had gedacht dat alleen anderen die toebehoorden. De gloed is een verhaal over een vrouw in een tijd van weelde, ongelijkheid en een wankele moraal.
