Brecht van Hulten praat met schrijver Arthur Japin over zijn nieuwe roman Het Stravinsky-spel. Hoe ver ben je bereid te gaan om iets voor een ander te betekenen?’ Dit is de uitdaging in het spel dat twee getalenteerde pubers, Susan Sontag en Cody Garner, eind jaren 40 bedenken na ontmoetingen met Thomas Mann en Igor Stravinsky in Los Angeles. De inzet is dan nog kinderlijk vrijblijvend, maar de vraag blijft hen levenslang bezighouden. Decennia later, tijdens de belegering van Sarajevo, spelen zij hun spel opnieuw, nu op leven of dood. Geconfronteerd met het dagelijks leven en lijden van de Bosnische acteurs en hun gezinnen, ontdekken de twee jeugdvrienden hun eigen mogelijkheden en beperkingen. Dan dient zich de vraag aan: wat betekenen wij nu echt voor een ander over en wie van twee wint het Stravinsky-spel?
