Brecht van Hulten praat met Bart Eysink Smeets over zijn documentaire Bart en de zoektocht naar de dubbelganger. Ieder mens is uniek, dat is de generatie van Bart Eysink Smeets (1988) met de paplepel ingegoten. Maar kan je echt pas gelukkig worden als je je ‘unieke ik’ hebt gevonden, of als je je eigen unieke pad bewandelt? In dit moderne sprookje zoekt Bart op alle mogelijke manieren naar zijn dubbelganger. Met behulp van posters, rijdende billboards en online advertenties komt hij talloze Bart-look-a-likes in binnen- en buitenland op het spoor. En als de buitenkant lijkt, hoe zit het dan met het innerlijk? Met een zoon op komst raakt Barts queeste in een stroomversnelling. Zelfs op crèches blijkt uniciteit het hoogste goed; in wat voor een wereld komt zijn kind terecht? Met gezichtsherkenningssoftware stuit hij vervolgens op de foto van een mogelijke dubbelganger in Amerika. Zal hij deze nog naamloze ‘Bart’ kunnen vinden? En levert de zoektocht hem op wat hij hoopt?
