Annemieke Bosman praat met kunstenaar Bouke de Vries. Het Nationaal Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in Leeuwarden presenteert vanaf begin juli de eerste grote overzichtstentoonstelling van de internationaal gelauwerde kunstenaar Bouke de Vries. UNBROKEN biedt een unieke blik op het werk van De Vries die op innovatieve en veelzijdige wijze gebroken keramiek transformeert naar nieuwe, verrassende kunstwerken. Zo is er een levensgroot staatsieportret van koning Willem-Alexander en koningin Maxima te zien samengesteld uit Delfts porselein uit de 17e en 18e eeuw. En vorstelijk eerbetoon en tegelijkertijd een speelse reflectie op nationale symboliek en keramiek als erfgoed. Bouke de Vries, geboren in Utrecht en nu woonachtig in Londen, is van oorsprong restaurator. Zijn vakmanschap vormt de basis voor een artistieke praktijk waarin kwetsbaarbeid en herstel samenkomen met een liefde voor materiaal, ambacht en verhalen.
