Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Charl Landvreugd, samensteller van de tentoonstelling Erwin Olaf - Freedom. Het Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam presenteert het eerste museale overzicht na zijn plotselinge overlijden twee jaar geleden. Het is een eerbetoon aan de veelzijdige en gelaagde kunstenaar die Erwin Olaf was. Erwin Olaf Springveld (1959-2023) staat internationaal bekend als een van de meest vooraanstaande Nederlandse fotokunstenaars, geroemd om zijn karakteristieke enscenering, unieke belichting, perfectionisme en spraakmakende onderwerpen. Erwin Olaf was een vrijdenker, en het nastreven van persoonlijke vrijheid was de basis van alles wat hij deed - of het nu betrekking had op identiteit, seksualiteit en gender, het menselijk lichaam in al zijn verschijningsvormen, het nachtleven of gelijke rechten voor iedereen. Zijn activistische levenshouding vormt de rode draad in de tentoonstelling.
