Annemieke Bosman praat met acteur en theatermaker Daniël Boissevain over zijn boek Het Magische Kind dat onlangs verscheen. In Ruigoord is het altijd feest. Het is eind jaren zestig, een groep kunstenaars en vrijbuiters heeft zich ver van de burgerlijke truttigheid gevestigd en leeft op hun eigen voorwaarden. Maar er is ook zoiets als te veel vrijheid. Voor Daniël die opgroeit in een groep die totaal grenzeloos leeft, volwassenen die weigeren volwassen te zijn, is zijn kindertijd allesbehalve gebruikelijk. Wanneer een oude bus aan het dorp wordt geschonken en het plan wordt opgevat over land via India naar China te reizen, gaat het nog een stapje verder. Heen en weer geslingerd tussen de dorpsschool, waar hij dat rare kind is, proberen samen te leven met zijn afwezige vader, en het leven aan boord van de bus hoort hij eigenlijk nergens echt thuis. Nooit is er rust in zijn chaotische omgeving. Daniël Boissevain is acteur en theatermaker. Hij speelde in tv-series als Gooische Vrouwen en All Stars en in diverse films, waaronder Peace of My Heart en Alberta. Hij won de publieksprijs voor zijn vertolking van Herman Brood in Wild Romance. In 2007 ontving hij de Musical Award voor beste hoofdrol in de musical Doe Maar! en vorig jaar toerde hij met de door hemzelf geïnitieerde solo De Schuldige door het land, gebaseerd op het Deense filmsucces Den Skyldige. Als kind groeide hij op in Ruigoord, een krakerskunstenaarsgemeenschap onder de rook van Amsterdam.
