Andrea van Pol in gesprek met Ezard Mik over zijn nieuwe boek 'waarom vogels'. Een roman waarin alles draait om de liefde. De liefde van een man voor zijn vader, die hij amper heeft gekend. De liefde van een vrouw voor een man die in zijn eigen wereld gevangen lijkt te zitten. De liefde van de vertelster voor haar beste vriendin, een liefde waarvoor ze meer overheeft dan ze ooit had kunnen denken. En uiteindelijk de liefde voor vogels, die langzaam maar zeker uitsterven. Wie of wat raakt ons, waarmee verbinden we ons? Edzard Mik (1960) debuteerde met de roman 'De bouwmeester' (1995) en schreef verder onder meer de zeer geprezen romans 'Goede tijden' (2009), 'Mont Blanc'(2012) en 'Mea culpa' (2019). Naast romans schreef hij korte verhalen, libretto’s, scenario’s en essays.
