Annemieke Bosman praat met Guus Luijters over zijn roman Hoe Tarzan de Tour de France won. Amsterdam, jaren vijftig. Als Tom niet zit te fantaseren over het geheimzinnige huis aan de overkant van de straat, plakt hij uitgeknipte foto's van wielrenners in zijn schrift. Maar het liefst volgt hij wielerwedstrijden op de radio. Zijn favoriet is Hein van Breenen, die Tarzan wordt genoemd omdat hij zichzelf spectaculair wist te behoeden voor een val door zich aan een boomtak vast te grijpen. Tarzan was een gewone jongen die het geschopt heeft tot de Tour: een held. Wanneer zijn vader een heuse Buick aanschaft, vertrekt Tom met zijn ouders naar Zuid-Frankrijk om de renners van de Tour de France in het echt te bekijken. Maar die reis verloopt heel anders dan hij zich had voorgesteld... Guus Luijters publiceerde romans, novellen, poëzie en het indrukwekkende In Memoriam, een monument voor kinderen die in de oorlog zijn weggevoerd. Zijn meest recente publicatie is het vrolijke Ode aan het ei, dat hij samen met zijn dochter Sara Luijters schreef.
