Annemieke Bosman gaat met psycholoog Iva Bicanic in gesprek over de docuserie De Bus naar Mostar. Een groep jonge handbalsters ontsnapt begin jaren negentig door een slim plan van hun trainer de oorlog in voormalig Joegoslavië. Na een gevaarlijke busreis komen de pubers terecht in het West-Friese dorpje Oosterblokker - maar eenmaal hier kunnen ze niet meer terug naar huis. 33 jaar later doen vier van hen waar ze toen van droomden: Ze gaan terug met de bus naar Mostar. Psycholoog met Joegoslavische wortels Iva Bicanic ontrafelt aan de hand van gesprekken, hartverscheurende brieven en intieme dagboekfragmenten een verhaal over oorlog, verscheurde families en vluchten, maar ook over veerkracht, hoop en herinneringen.
