Annemieke Bosman praat met fotograaf Iwan Baan over zijn tentoonstelling 'Monumentum of Light' in Museum Kranenburg in Bergen. In Momentum of Light presenteert de internationaal spraakmakende fotograaf Iwan Baan (NL, 1975) een selectie van de foto’s die hij in 2021 in het zuiden van Burkina Faso maakte van de traditionele Burkinese architectuur. Baan legt vast hoe de dagelijkse cyclus van het zonlicht centraal staat in de traditionele bouw en het dagelijks leven van de bewoners. In zijn fascinatie voor architectuur kiest Baan het perspectief van de documentaire fotograaf; zijn aandacht gaat niet zozeer uit naar de architectonische vormentaal, als wel naar de manier waarop de alledaagse routine van mensen in hun huizen, werkplaatsen en gebedsruimten wordt gestuurd door de verzengende aanwezigheid, of juist aardedonkere afwezigheid van de zon. Momentum of Light, de eerste museale solotentoonstelling van Iwan Baan in Nederland, is een hommage aan een manier van bouwen en leven die is gebaseerd op de synergie van mens en natuur.
