Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met toneelschrijvers Joeri Heegstra en Max Wind. Voor het Nationale Theater schrijven zij de nieuwe voorstelling Operation Hellfire van theaterregisseur Eric de Vroedt, een politieke thriller over het Internationaal Strafhof over de vraag: werkt het internationaal recht écht voor iedereen? Operation Hellfire is een politieke satire waarin recht, macht en moraal hard botsen. Een ‘what-if’ die angstig dicht bij de werkelijkheid komt. Ter ere van het 25-jarig bestaan van het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), organiseert de premier van Nederland een internationale top. Eregast is een oud-president van Amerika. Maar dan gebeurt het ondenkbare. Direct na zijn speech wordt hij gearresteerd door het Strafhof. Live op tv, voor het oog van de wereld. De reactie uit Washington volgt razendsnel. De American Service-Members’ Protection Act wordt geactiveerd: een wet die Amerikanen beschermt tegen vervolging door het Strafhof. Zelfs als dat een aanval op Nederland betekent. Het Strafhof weigert te buigen. De spanning stijgt, de wereld kijkt toe, de druk op Den Haag wordt steeds groter. Hoever durft Nederland te gaan om vrede en recht te verdedigen?
