Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Jolande Withuis, schrijfster en sociologe. Haar nieuwe boek Moeder, antimoeder kwam onlangs uit. Jolande Withuis groeide op in een communistisch gezin met een moeder die keihard werkte, zowel binnen- als buitenshuis, die financieel onafhankelijk wilde zijn en die haar dochter en zoon gelijkwaardig wilde opvoeden. In Moeder, antimoeder reconstrueert Jolande Withuis het leven van haar moeder en onderzoekt ze wat de opvoeding door deze krachtvrouw betekende voor haarzelf als dochter. Opnieuw bewijst zij dat ze als geen ander in staat is individuele levens en gevoelens te verbinden aan grote sociaal-culturele en politiek-historische ontwikkelingen. Schrijfster en sociologe Jolande Withuis publiceerde onder meer Weest manlijk, zijt sterk (2008) over verzetsman Pim Boellaard, dat werd bekroond met de Grote Geschiedenis Prijs en de Erik Hazelhoff Biografieprijs. Haar bestseller Juliana (2016) en haar veelgeprezen boek over kunstenares Jeanne Bieruma Oosting, Geen tijd verliezen (2021), stonden op de shortlist van de Nederlandse Biografieprijs. In 2018 publiceerde ze haar autobiografische zoektocht Raadselvader, en in 2023 de essaybundel Vrouw en vrijheid.
