Brecht van Hulten praat met schrijver Julien Ignacio over zijn roman Goudjakhals. Goudjakhals is een ketting van migrantenstemmen. Het speelt zich af op de fonkelnieuwe grachten van Amsterdam in de Gouden Eeuw, op de zonnige, dansende eilanden Aruba en Curaçao, in de kapotgeschoten straten van Beirut en Aleppo, of in een vluchtelingenkamp op Lesbos onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden. Behalve over liefde en familie gaat het, onder veel meer, over de eenzaamheid van een Palestijn met een gebroken hart en over een Iraanse Koerd die in een onmogelijke situatie bevriend raakt met een AIchatbot. Julien Ignacio (1969) studeerde af als literatuurwetenschapper. Hij publiceerde theaterteksten, blogs en korte verhalen. In 2008 ontving hij de El Hizjra-literatuurprijs voor zijn toneelstuk Hotel Atlantis. Hij is redacteur van literair tijdschrift Tirade en bestuurslid van de Werkgroep Caraïbische Letteren. Bij Van Oorschot verscheen in 2018 zijn debuutroman Kus (nominatie Bronzen Uil). Met collegaschrijver Raoul de Jong stelde hij Dat wij zongen samen, een bloemlezing Caraïbische literatuur die in 2022 uitkwam bij uitgeverij Das Mag.
