Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Justine Rinnooy Kan, curator bij het Mauritshuis. Daar in Den Haag is momenteel de tentoonstelling Het verdwenen museum te zien. Ruim 120 objecten worden bijeengebracht uit het Koninklijk Kabinet van Zeldzaamheden dat tussen 1822 en 1875 was gevestigd op de benedenverdieping van het Mauritshuis. Het was een museum met duizenden objecten van over de hele wereld. De zalen stonden er bomvol. Bezoekers ontdekken in de tentoonstelling allerlei voorwerpen, waaronder sieraden, poppen, vazen, reukflessen, harnassen, wapens, adellijke haarvlechten en zelfs een 'echte' zeemeermin. Het verdwenen museum biedt ook een andere blik op de rijke, maar vaak complexe geschiedenis en de invloed daarvan op het heden. Hoe en waarom werd er verzameld? Welke verhalen werden er bij de objecten verteld en kloppen die wel?
