Annemieke Bosman praat met beeldend kunstenaar Karina Beumer over haar documentaire "De originele Karina Beumer", die te zien is op het Nederlands Film Festival. In een poging om te ontsnappen aan haar werkverslaving neemt beeldend kunstenaar Karina Beumer meerdere vervangers voor zichzelf aan. Wat levert het de vervangers op om iemand anders' identiteit aan te nemen? En wat kost het Karina? De originele Karina Beumer is een documentaire over controle verliezen, jezelf terugvinden en de vraag: hoeveel van je identiteit kun je uitbesteden? Het begint allemaal bij een opvallende vacature: Karina Beumer zoekt een vervanger voor zichzelf. Ze wil achterhalen waar haar productiviteitsdrang vandaan komt en ontsnappen aan haar hectische leven vol deadlines en exposities. De sollicitaties stromen binnen, met uiteenlopende motivaties. Karina selecteert acht vervangers. Ze krijgen toegang tot haar atelier, haar telefoon, haar laptop. Karina trekt zich terug in de controlekamer, waar ze zich oppermachtig waant. Maar Karina's werk is ook haar leven. En daar begint het te schuren. Karina Beumer (1988) is beeldend kunstenaar en woont en werkt in Antwerpen. In haar werk gaat ze graag relaties aan met 'de ander' of 'het andere'. Ze is artistiek en zakelijk leider bij productiehuis Geen Pijn, waar ze boeken en films publiceert. Haar eerste film getiteld (...) was een coproductie met de VPRO en ging in 2023 in première.
