Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Mondriaan-specialisten Leo Jansen en Wietse Coppens. In Fotomuseum Den Haag is vanaf zaterdag de tentoonstelling 'Strike a Pose. Mondriaan en fotografie' te zien. Dat fotografie een krachtig middel is om jezelf neer te zetten, daar was kunstenaar Piet Mondriaan zich van meet af aan van bewust. Gedurende zijn carrière laat 'de vader van de abstractie' zich geregeld fotograferen in zijn atelier als een serieuze eenling. Dat Mondriaan ook een veel lossere en sociale kant kende, blijkt uit kiekjes uit zijn privéleven die in een onderzoek naar de kunstenaar naar boven zijn gekomen. In de tentoonstelling 'Strike a Pose. Mondriaan en fotografie' wordt aan de hand van zeventig foto's de rol die fotografie speelde in het leven van Mondriaan belicht en komen zijn formele en informele kant samen. Iconische portretten gemaakt door fotografen van naam worden afgewisseld met nooit eerder getoonde snapshots die een zeldzaam inkijkje geven in het privéleven van een van de grootste kunstenaars van de twintigste eeuw. Mondriaan-specialisten Wietse Coppens, conservator bij het RKD en Leo Jansen, onderzoek bij het Huygens Instituut, doen al jaren onderzoek naar de kunstenaar ten behoeve van het Mondriaan Editieproject.
