Andrea van Pol in gesprek met Leontien Coelewij, één van de samenstellers en conservator bij Stedelijk Museum. Het Stedelijk presenteert in drie delen de collectie op een nieuwe, thematische manier. Deel 2, Everyday, Someday and Other Stories, toont ontwikkelingen in de beeldende kunst en vormgeving vanaf de jaren 50 tot de jaren 80. Kunstenaars en vormgevers laten zien dat het een tijd is van nieuwe mogelijkheden en vooruitgang, van massacultuur, popcultuur en consumptie, maar ook van kritiek op de gevestigde orde. Door bekende werken uit de collectie te combineren met onbekendere, worden er andere verhalen verteld vanuit uiteenlopende perspectieven, en nieuw licht geworpen op de collectie van het Stedelijk. Het Everyday in de titel verwijst naar het gegeven dat kunst steeds dichter bij het dagelijks leven komt te staan: alledaagse materialen, handelingen en gebeurtenissen doen hun intrede. In Someday zit het idealisme van die tijd besloten; Other Stories staat voor het vertellen van andere verhalen met bekende werken, door ze van andere contexten te voorzien. Deel 1, Tomorrow Is a Different Day. Collectie 1980-nu is al open. Deel 2, Everyday, Someday and Other Stories. Collectie 1950-1980 is vanaf 19 februari te zien. Deel 3, kunst en vormgeving voor 1950, opent einde zomer 2022. Vanaf dan zal de gehele collectieopstelling van het Stedelijk te zien zijn in het historische gebouw.
