Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Maaike Rikhof, conservator Moderne Kunst van het Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. In het Frans Hals Museum is deze winter de tentoonstelling Coba Ritsema: Oog voor kleur te zien. Het museum zet de Haarlemse kunstenaar Coba Ritsema (Haarlem 1876 - Amsterdam 1961) in de schijnwerpers. In een tijd waarin gemiddeld maar één op de vijf kunstenaars vrouw is, heeft Coba Ritsema met haar schilderijen en pasteltekeningen groot succes in binnen- en buitenland. Rond 1900 werd ze geprezen om haar portretten en stillevens, vooral vanwege de mooie en harmonieuze kleuren. Vooral haar verstilde voorstellingen van meisjes die je op de rug ziet vielen in de smaak. In de tentoonstelling worden in totaal 35 kunstwerken getoond, zowel van Ritsema als van tijdgenoten, onder wie George Hendrik Breitner (1857-1923), Lizzy Ansingh (1875-1959) en Kees Verwey (1900-1995). Een groot deel van de werken van Ritsema was nooit eerder voor het publiek te zien.
