Shula Tas in gesprek met schrijfster Marjolein Visser. Visser schrijft proza en non-fictie. Ze studeerde Klinische Psychologie en Culturele Antropologie en Ontwikkelingsstudies. Marjolein won verschillende schrijfwedstrijden, waaronder Writing for Success en de VPRO Bagagedrager. Twee keer stond ze in de finale van Write Now!. Ondertussen werkte ze als psycholoog i.o. in een traumakliniek voor vluchtelingen en deed onderzoek voor verschillende instellingen (o.a. Vluchtelingenwerk, de Radboud Universiteit en CIDIN) in Nederland en Mexico. Zo deed ze onderzoek naar het welzijn van jongeren en naar het voorkomen van het uitzetten van asielgezinnen. Haar tragikomische debuutroman Restmens verscheen in 2020 en kreeg lovende kritieken. In 2023 kwam haar kinderboekendebuut De verboden duinen (uitgeverij Leopold) uit. Dit voorjaar verscheen haar roman Hou je stil (uitgeverij De Geus), waarvoor ze jarenlang onderzoek deed en tientallen mensen met asielervaringen, alsook traumapsychologen, mensenrechtenactivisten, antropologen, journalisten, uitgezette mensen en slachtoffers en daders van kartelgeweld sprak. Momenteel geeft ze nog steeds schrijfbegeleiding aan mensen met een vluchtachtergrond, onder meer in Ter Apel.
