Vijf jaar lang filmden de makers het proces van het kunstmuseum over migratie in wording achter de schermen, van de eerste schets tot de koninklijke opening, met alle strubbelingen, dilemma’s en successen daartussen. De film over het nieuwste icoon van de Maasstad beleeft zijn wereldpremière op het International Film Festival Rotterdam. Mark Bakker maakte portretten van Karsu, Karin Bloemen, Paul van Vliet en Jan Rot. Ook verzorgde hij de camera bij de veelgeprezen documentaire over voetbalclub Ajax: Daar hoorden zij engelen zingen van regisseur Roel van Dalen.
