Annemieke Bosman praat met schrijfster Marlies Bosmans en actrice Emma van Muiswinkel over de muzikale familievoorstelling "Malle Babbe". De luchtige, muzikale zomerkomedie "Malle Babbe" voert ons terug naar het leven in de zeventiende eeuw in het Haarlemse Dolhuys aan de hand van de drie hoofdpersonages Frans Hals, Pieter Hals en Malle Babbe. Wanneer Pieter Hals door zijn vader naar Het Dolhuys wordt gestuurd stort zijn wereld in. Gelukkig is daar Malle Babbe die hem het reilen en zeilen in “het huis voor krankzinnigheid” uitlegt. Ook de andere bewoners van Het Dolhuys als Verdonck, Pekelharing, Isa, Sophie du flo en Napoleon helpen Pieter zichzelf te aanvaarden zoals hij is. Alle personages in "Malle Babbe": hebben echt bestaan of zijn gebaseerd op mensen die in deze tijd in het Dolhuys woonden. De grote schilder Frans Hals, zelf een fan van buitenbeentjes aan zijn schilderijen te zien, schaamt zich enorm voor zijn zoon en durft hem niet te gaan bezoeken. Malle Babbe geeft hem de informatie die hij nodigt heeft in ruil voor een portret. Van haar. "Malle Babbe" is een voorstelling van de Stadsschouwburg Haarlem en Club Kenau en is te zien op het plein voor de Haarlemse Staddschouwburg.
