Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met filmregisseur Mercedes Stalenhoef. Donderdag gaat haar nieuwe film 'Mijn Grote Broer' in roulatie. In 'Mijn Grote Broer' volgt Stalenhoef ruim twee jaar de familie van de overleden Arie in hun rouwproces om hun zoon en broer. 'Mijn Grote Broer' toont op intieme wijze de nasleep die suïcide teweeg kan brengen.  Mercedes Stalenhoef maakte diverse korte documentaires voor onder anderen Amnesty International, De Prinsenstichting (een centrum voor verstandelijk gehandicapten) en diverse omroepen. Vervolgens heeft zij diverse prijswinnende lange documentaires gemaakt. Haar debuut 'Ik neem gewoon mijn speelgoed mee' werd in 2002 genomineerd voor de Dutch Academy Award. Met haar documentaire 'Ik wil nooit beroemd worden' won zij in 2005 een Gouden Kalf Speciale Juryprijs. De film werd geselecteerd door IDFA en vele internationale filmfestivals. In 2008 werd haar film 'Carmen meets Borat' na de IDFA première een internationaal succes, genomineerd voor een Gouden Kalf en de officiële Nederlandse Oscar inzending. In 2012 volgde de documentaire 'Karsu'en in 2014 maakte zij de film 'Ik hoor hier niet thuis'.
