Annemieke Bosman praat met filosoof Miriam Rasch over haar nieuwe boek Luisteroefeningen. Meningen, politieke statements en selfies domineren onze feeds. De druk om mee te doen met deze zelfprofilering kan groot zijn, niet alleen online maar ook thuis en op het werk. Hebben we enkel de keuze tussen luidkeels zenden en je terugtrekken in stilte, of bestaat er ook een alternatief? In Luisteroefeningen gaat Miriam Rasch op zoek naar de ethiek van het luisteren. Wat gebeurt er als je je oren opent en begint te luisteren? In een constante stroom van beelden en prikkels legt Rasch de focus steeds terug bij het horen, bij geluid en bij de ontvangende kant. Als we luisteren ontstaat meteen een relatie tot het gehoorde: van aandacht en ontvankelijkheid, van geven en binnenlaten. Oefenend met een ‘open oor’ ontdekt Rasch hoe een luisterende houding tegelijk standvastigheid en openheid met zich meebrengt. Een krachtig instrument in tijden van overprikkeling en polarisatie, dat voor iedereen binnen handbereik ligt. Filosoof en essayist Miriam Rasch is verbonden aan de Willem de Kooning Academie en schrijft voor onder meer NRC Handelsblad, De Nederlandse Boekengids en Filosofie Magazine. In 2015 won ze de Jan Hanlo Essayprijs Klein, en in 2021 werd haar boek Frictie (2020) bekroond met de Socratesbeker voor het beste filosofieboek. Haar andere boeken, de essaybundel Zwemmen in de oceaan (2017) en het pamflet Autonomie (2022), werden ook voor deze prijs genomineerd.
