Van 23 november 2024 tot en met 4 mei 2025 is in Stedelijk Museum Schiedam I Hit You With a Flower – suikerzoete kunst met een bite te zien. Een oogstrelend zoete tentoonstelling die diversiteit in de maatschappij glorieus viert. Ook is het een eerbetoon aan ‘meisjeskunst’, een term die vaak denigrerend is bedoeld, maar nu als geuzennaam wordt gebruikt. Te zien is werk van pioniers als Lily van der Stokker, Kinke Kooi en Pipilotti Rist tot jonger talent als Vera Gulikers, Frances Goodman, Dae Uk Kim, Jurjen Galema, Mari Katayama en Alex Naber & Chelseaboy. Ruim twintig (inter)nationale kunstenaars blinken uit in roze, pastel of juist knalkleuren, goud, glitter, bloemen en andere motieven. Zij maken frivole kunstwerken die even aanlokkelijk als intelligent zijn. Deze kunstenaars betrekken je via een verrukkelijke verleidingsstrategie bij hun fluwelen activisme en de open samenleving waar zij voor staan.
