Shula Tas in gesprek met fotograaf en curator Ruben Lundgren. In het Fotomuseum in Den Haag is momenteel zijn tentoonstelling Flowers in the Mirror te zien. Daarin reflecteert Lundgren op twintig jaar werken en leven in China. Op zijn 21ste vertrekt hij als fotografiestudent naar China, waar het eigen maken van de taal en cultuur samenvalt met zijn zoektocht naar een openlijke queer identiteit. De fotografie biedt hem de mogelijkheid om de spanning tussen beeld en werkelijkheid te onderzoeken. Kenmerkend voor Lundgren is zijn voortdurende experiment met uiteenlopende fotografische stijlen, zonder daarbij zijn eigen blik, intuïtie en verwondering te verliezen. Deze tentoonstelling brengt zijn belangrijkste, in China gerealiseerde projecten, zoals Empty Bottles, Real Dreams en Wow Taobao samen. Door het persoonlijke te verbinden met het maatschappelijke, opent Lundgren nieuwe perspectieven op hoe wij naar China kijken.
