Anders dan de anderen samen en schreef er ook een biografie bij: Verfijnde lijnen. Carel de Nerée tot Babberich 1880-1909. Kunst en leven. De expositie in het Dordrechts Museum laat het oeuvre van Carel de Nerée tot Babberich (1880-1909) zien. De Nerées tekeningen, die tot de meest fascinerende uit de Nederlandse kunst rond 1900 behoren, roepen associaties op met grote Europese fin-de-siècle kunstenaars als Aubrey Beardsley, Jan Toorop en Gustav Klimt. Carel de Nerée tot Babberich was een opvallende verschijning in het Den Haag rond 1900. Hij groeide op in een vooraanstaande familie, werd opgeleid tot diplomaat, maar koos voor een spannender kunstenaarsleven. Dat leven was kort, op zijn 29e stierf hij aan tuberculose.
