Annemieke Bosman praat met schrijver Saskia Noort en haar zoon, kunstenaar en illustrator, Mathieu Schellekens. Samen maakten ze een graphic novel naar Saskia Noort's debuut Terug naar de kust. Deze succesvolle roman verscheen dit jaar precies 20 jaar geleden. Als Maria zwanger blijkt van haar derde kind, besluit ze het voortijdig te laten weghalen en de relatie met de vader te verbreken. Vlak daarna wordt ze met de dood bedreigd, kennelijk vanwege haar levensstijl en de gepleegde abortus. Het is het begin van een zenuwslopend kat-en-muisspel. Om zichzelf en vooral haar kinderen in veiligheid te brengen, besluit Maria onder te duiken bij haar zus Ans, die nog altijd in hun ouderlijk huis aan zee woont. Daar wordt Maria geconfronteerd met jeugdherinneringen die ze liever zou vergeten. En terwijl haar dierbaren aan haar geestelijke gezondheid beginnen te twijfelen, komt haar belager steeds dichterbij... Twintig jaar na het verschijnen van dit debuut van Saskia Noort verschijnt de graphic novel, geïllustreerd door Saskia's zoon, Mathieu Schellekens. Ahmad Resh schreef het scenario voor de graphic novel.
