Jan Mom in gesprek met Suzanne Veldink, gastconservator van de tentoonstelling 'Suze Robertson. Toegewijd. Eigenzinnig Modern'. Museum Panorama Mesdag in Den Haag presenteert een groots overzicht van de Haagse kunstenaar Suze Robertson (1855-1922). Suze Robertson werd en wordt gerekend tot de grote kunstenaars van haar tijd; een radicale vernieuwer. Als een van de eerste vrouwelijke beroepskunstenaars in Nederland tornde ze zowel in haar kunstopvatting als door haar manier van leven aan de ideeën van wat destijds als typisch vrouwelijk werd geacht. Vastbesloten te slagen, bouwde ze in bijna veertig jaar tijd zelfbewust en onverstoorbaar aan een oeuvre waarvan alle onderdelen feilloos als van haar hand herkenbaar zijn. Met haar expressieve manier van schilderen en tekenen bracht ze de kunst begin 20ste eeuw tot nieuwe hoogte.
