Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met modeontwerper Tess van Zalinge en Roberto Luis Martins, conservator. Borduren, patchwork en breien: het zijn eeuwenoude technieken waar veel mensen kracht uit putten. In tijden van conflict, van rouw, van verzet maar ook in momenten van blijdschap. Het toepassen van handwerktechnieken brengt al eeuwenlang mensen samen en biedt handvatten voor het uiten en verwerken van gevoelens. Tegelijkertijd dreigt de kennis van veel technieken, zoals kantklossen en stoppen, verloren te gaan. Hoe kan deze kennis overgedragen worden en ons (opnieuw) inspireren om te verbinden, te uiten en te helen? De tentoonstelling 'ContinueThis Thread ' in het Amsterdam Museum (in de Hermitage aan de Amstel) is een uitnodiging van mode-ontwerpers Adduchi en Van Zalinge aan bezoekers om zich te laten inspireren door klassieke handwerktechnieken. De Amsterdamse modeontwerpers Karim Adduchi en Tess van Zalinge kregen in de afgelopen jaren veel naamsbekendheid met hun ontwerpen geïnspireerd op historische en streekgebonden handwerktechnieken.
