Het Spoor Terug: Een tijd van daarvoor en een tijd van daarna

Op 16 juli 1957 vond de Nederlandse vliegramp met het toestel de Neutron plaats in Biak, Nieuw Guinea. Aan boord tropenarts Dick Leiker met zijn vrouw en vier jonge kinderen. Hij is op weg naar Nederland om te promoveren op lepra. Samen met tien andere inzittenden wordt dokter Leiker gered door Papoea’s die met hun prauwen de brandende zee op zijn geroeid. Het dramatische verlies van zijn gezin weerhoudt hem er niet van om zijn leven in dienst te stellen van de leprabestrijding en in 1967 richt hij samen met anderen de Leprastichting op. Wineke van Muiswinkel maakte een radiodocumentaire over dit bijzondere verhaal, eerder uitgezonden in RadioDoc.
