Groningen lijdt onder de gaswinning. Dat is genoegzaam bekend. Maar ooit leefden de Groningse dorpen op, dankzij het aardgas. Het gas bracht er in de jaren zestig vrede, geluk en welvaart. Slochteren werd van niemandsdorp tot het bekendste dorp van Nederland. En zo was er meer dat Groningen ten goede kwam, dankzij het gas. Een halve eeuw later brengt het gas er rampzaligheid en zorg.Lejo Siepe ging voor Het Spoor Terug naar de gasdorpen en maakte een tweedelige serie over de Groningers en hun gas.
