Het Spoor Terug: Kweekje #2: We praten niet

Om meer te weten te komen over de oorsprong van kweekjes duikt Nicole in de migratiegeschiedenis van Afro-Surinamers in Nederland. Hoe hielden families, gescheiden door een oceaan, contact met elkaar? Nicole gaat op zoek naar de cassettebandjes die haar familieleden aan weerszijden van de oceaan voor elkaar inspraken. Ondertussen groeit bij Nicole een onbestemd gevoel. Het is een stille regel: In bere tories, verhalen die in je buik moeten blijven, zaken die binnen de familie opgelost moeten worden, daar praat je niet over. En dat is nou precies wat Nicole wel wil doen: het gesprek openen. Haar zoektocht zorgt voor weerstand. “Een Bounty,” wordt ze zelfs genoemd. Is ze Surinaams of Nederlands? Bij haar moeder, die in het theater ook persoonlijke verhalen deelt, vindt ze steun. Tegelijkertijd staat hun eigen geschiedenis tussen hen in. Want waarom liet haar moeder haar achter? Moest Jetty weg om zichzelf te ontwikkelen?
