Deze week in Het Spoor Terug: deel één van een tweeluik over het Montessori-onderwijs in Nederland.Het is dit jaar 150 jaar geleden dat Maria Montessori geboren werd. 50 jaar later opende de eerste Montessorischool in ons land. Historisch heeft Nederland een unieke plek in het Montessori-universum. Als enige in de wereld is het gedachtegoed van de pedagoge Maria Montessori geïntegreerd in ons onderwijssysteem. Van hieruit waaierde het gedachtegoed over de persoonlijke vrijheid en ontwikkeling van kinderen uit over de hele wereld: zelfs naar plekken waar je de 'roze toren' en 'gouden kralen' niet direct zou verwachten, zoals communistisch China.Michal Citroen maakte er een tweeluik over.
