In het Prisonmuseum van Huntsville, Texas staat de eerste elektrische stoel - ‘Ol’ Sparky’ - op een erepodium. Duizenden mannen en een paar vrouwen zijn er sinds 1890 op gestorven.Nog steeds bestaat de doodstraf in de VS. Sommige Nederlanders zijn al lange tijd begaan met het lot van de vaak arme zwarte Amerikanen in de dodencel. Meer dan 25 jaar stond advocaat Bart Stapert een aantal van hen gratis bij en Nederlandse vrouwen hielpen Amerikaanse ter dood veroordeelden tot aan de dag van hun executie.
