Hidden Pattern of Avoidants and Their Mental Recipe
from Voices of Victory Podcast Show · host Mario D. Leone
Hidden Pattern of Avoidant's and Their Mental Recipe! Avoidants don't usually reject you as a person; they're just quick to categorize people as either “safe” or “unsafe,” sometimes before they even get to know you. Their brains lean on old relational patterns, and their nervous system scans for anything intense or unpredictable. If something feels off even if nothing actually is—their stress response kicks in. Suddenly, connection is uncomfortable instead of comforting. Trust and closeness start to feel like pressure, not warmth. Their mind backs up this physical reaction by creating a story: being distant feels like protection, and withdrawing becomes necessary for emotional balance. So you see them pull away less talking, less emotion, retreating to find calm. At this point, you're not interacting with their full self. You're dealing with a version filtered through self-protective instincts and mental shortcuts. Engaging with someone avoidant takes patience and consistency. Their withdrawal isn’t personal, so it helps to not take it too personally or react to the distancing with more intensity. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is offer steadiness without demanding closeness.
