As America celebrates its 249th birthday this 4th of July, let’s honor more than just fireworks and shine a light on the full story of the nation’s fight for freedom. It’s a time to recognize the brave Black Americans who helped build this country, often without the freedoms they were promised.In this Historical Spotlight, I’m honoring the Black heroes who fought on both sides of the Revolutionary War.
