It is an absolute pleasure of mine to be here again to bring you this performance this week. It is week 170 round 2 of the Hive Music Festival organized by the @musiczone community. I just want to say how awesome it is that amateur musicians like me have been given this stellar opportunity in the form of a neutral platform to share our talents and get recognized and rewarded for our efforts. And even though, I am not the most consistent person of this platform, it is still always an absolute pleasure whenever I'm able to get away from my day job and make an appearance here. The song I will be performing this week is titled It'll be okay by Shawn Mendez. This song as far as I am concerned, is probably Shawn Mendez's magnum opus. It is a very heavy song with deep lyrics that most people will certainly be able to relate to. The slow pace of the song really allows ample time for the lyrics to sink into your soul and pierce even the thickest layers of protection, revealing that emotional being underneath. The song is essentially about realizing the fact that a relationship is not going to ripen until death the way you'd initially imagined. But instead of freaking out with arms flailing in the air and tears welling up in your eyes till they block out the light rays, you just accept your fate in a stoic fashion. I suppose it is funny in a way, but only in retrospect, as someone who has actually been in such a situation before. I love the lyrics so much, and I also particularly love the visual imagery in the official music video of the song, which shows Shawn Mendez alone walking down the street as he sings the song. I think it really depicts the aloneness and loneliness that stems from such a situation and how it would typically take a while to begin to feel whole again.
