En waarom kan een bodem die er gezond uitziet in de praktijk tóch problemen veroorzaken? Bodemonderzoekers Amanda Matson en Erik van den Elsen (Wageningen Environmental Research) werken samen met Liz Veerman en Remen Dallinga van de gemeente Amsterdam aan de Bodemgezondheidsindex: een methode om te meten hoe ‘gezond’ de stedelijke bodem is. Maar vooral: hoe geschikt die bodem is voor wat wij er als mens mee willen doen. Verslaggever Sander Nieuwenhuijsen loopt mee tijdens een veldmeting in het Amsterdamse Funenpark. Met een grondboor, regenwormentelling, infiltratietest en zelfs een penetrologger onderzoeken ze wat er schuilgaat onder het gras. Waarom werkt de bodem op de ene plek perfect en op de andere plek helemaal niet? En wat kun je zelf doen met de bodem onder je tuintegels?
