Hold to the Truth: Jude 1:12-19

In his letter to the early church, Jude wanted to write an encouraging message about their shared salvation. Instead, he found it necessary to issue a warning — one that is just as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. False teachers were creeping into the church, using the name of Jesus to promote worldly living rather than godly living. Jude describes these influencers vividly: clouds without water, fruitless trees pulled up by the roots, raging waves foaming up shame. They cause division because they have no real connection to the source of life. His remedy? "Remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Jude 17). The Word of God is our greatest defense against deception. When we are rooted in Scripture, we cannot be easily led astray by those who insert Jesus' name into worldly philosophies.
