Se cumplen 50 años del fallecimiento de John Ford, uno de los padres del cine, un genio absoluto y un tipo que se presentaba a sí mismo diciendo "Me llamo John Ford y hago películas". Suyos son algunos de los mejores westerns de la historia pero también ha cultivado otros géneros y cuenta con un buen número de obras maestras, habiendo dado pie también a que el cine de aventuras vividas por hombres rudos tuviese un rostro, un cuerpo, unos andares y un rostro, el de John Wayne, lo que nos permitirá hablar de "Hatari" (Howard Hawks, 1952).Ford es de esos actores que comenzaron su andadura en la época del cine mudo acumulando en apenas una décadas medio centenar de títulos entre los que se cuentan joyas como "El caballo de hierro" (1924). Menos conocida es su faceta como documentalista durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, algo que también forjó su ya estoica y en ocasiones áspera personalidad, trasluciéndose en el género bélico, que también cultivó con maestría. En cualquier caso la película que hoy pretendo convenceros para que veáis es esa delicia de "El hombre tranquilo" (1952), además de rememorar el sentido homenaje que le dedica Steven Spielberg al final de su última película, "Los Fabelman", escenificando una anécdota vivida por ambos cineastas.En cuanto a la ambientación musical hoy sonarán piezas provenientes de las películas citadas, lo que permitirá disfrutar de composiciones de Henry Mancini, Max Steiner o Victor Young.
