BIG IDEA: What if Jesus didn’t see us as an institution, what if He sees us as his bride!

Matthew 11:28-30 tpt

““Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.””

  • V29. “bend your neck to my yoke.” The metaphor of a yoke is that it joins two animals to work as one. It is not simply work or toil that is the focus here, the focus is union with Christ.

What if Jesus doesn’t see us as an institution, what if He sees us as HIS bride! (Run it back)

  • If that’s the case, then a once a week, two hour scripted church service would not satisfy The Father, Son, & Spirit’s desire for intimate fellowship with you!

Over time I gravitated to the original teachings of the Buddha, embodied in the Theravadan tradition, for their down-to-earth clarity, and important sources for me have included the teachers of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the Pali Canon itself. More recently, I've explored grounding the dharma in modern evolutionary neuropsychology - "neurodharma" - recognizing how mind arises dependently upon the body, especially the nervous system as it tries to meet ancient needs for raw survival. I am especially interested in using these approaches to heighten the learning - the cultivation (bhavana) - from beneficial experiences (otherwise often wasted on the brain) to reduce the underlying sense of deficit and disturbance that causes the craving that causes suffering and harm. Overall, I feel amazingly blessed to have the opportu True North Podcast with Chris Quiring Chris Quiring Finding truth in a culture of confusion.
