Hope Heals: Reframing Race, Faith, & Mental Health (feat. Dr. Christina Edmondson)

In honor of Black History Month, Sarah is joined by esteemed guest, Dr. Christina Edmondson. Dr. Christina Edmondson is an educator. She holds a PhD in counseling psychology and an MS in family therapy. A certified cultural intelligence facilitator with experience in nonprofit, higher education, and corporate sectors, Dr. Edmondson often consults with organizations about diversity and equity, as well as mental health and faith issues. Her work and insights have been covered in the Atlantic, the Guardian, Essence, and CBS News. She is also the co-host of the Truth's Table Podcast, which elevates the voices of Black women and explores topics such as embracing blackness, expressing faith, and engaging in racial liberation.  In today's episode, Sarah and Dr. Christina talk about the effects of church hurt on the Black community, how to identify racial trauma in predominantly white churches, the importance of revolutionizing blackness in light of the Western ideals of modern Christianity, and how to confront these issues with grace and hope for internal healing.
