Without this inward focus and the restoration it provides, our mental and emotional states are continually shredded by external events. It is essential for our well-being on every level that we establish a relationship with the light within, which is our own Divine Self. This is the aspect of our being that cannot be touched by what occurs in the outside world and thus is our place of peace and rejuvenation. Connecting with our Divine Self is not about escaping from the world, although it can feel like a mini-vacation in some ways. Instead, contact with this aspect of our being provides a spiritual and emotional nourishment that enables us to move into our lives and out into the world with greater confidence and faith.
