[HORS-SÉRIE] L'éclatante victoire de Thomas Cardin sur le Grand Trail des Templiers

J'ai le plaisir de recevoir dans cet épisode de Course Épique, Thomas Cardin, tout juste vainqueur du mythique Grand Trail des Templiers 2024.Après un départ donné à 5h15, sous une atmosphère vibrante marquée par le texte émouvant de Gilles Bertrand, co-fondateur du festival, Thomas nous plonge dans les moments forts des semaines qui ont précédé sa course et de sa victoire.Sur cette épreuve de 80,4 km et 3 440 m de dénivelé positif, Thomas débute prudemment, laissant Théo Detienne prendre les devants sur les 20 premiers kilomètres. C’est vers la mi-course, aux alentours du 40e km, que Thomas prend la tête, imposant son rythme sur les sentiers techniques des Grands Causses de l'Aveyron.Malgré une fin de course exigeante, il tient bon et s’échappe pour ne plus jamais être rejoint, franchissant la ligne d’arrivée en 6h38’14, réalisant ainsi une performance au-delà de ses attentes initiales.Avec une avance de 19 minutes sur son premier poursuivant, le Portuguais Miguel Arsenio, Thomas revient sur cette course, qui avait nourri ses rêves depuis longtemps, et sur son envie d'y réussir après son abandon en 2021 et sa 4ème place en 2023. Il couronne ainsi une saison parfaite, après son titre de champion d’Europe et sa victoire aux Ventoux quelques mois plus tôt.
