How a bout with brain cancer saved a life with Jason Tharp

This one is special, my friends. Settle in and let's talk for a minute about death and then life. In that order.

Not something you likely think about each day, or at all, death that is. And I'm certain that many of you listening today haven't had a sudden reckoning with your own mortality. It's not something I would ever wish on anyone in life, to stare directly at the end of your rope, especially before you're ready, and find out what it truly feels like to not have the time left to experience all the things you've always wanted. 

Our guest today is Jason Tharp. He is the Chief Creative Dreamer at Wonderville Studios, author and illustrator of many popular children’s books, a public speaker, husband, father, brain cancer survivor, patient advocate, and a human being trying his best to wander and wonder through life’s imperfections.

Jason's epic story of death and a rebirth from his sudden and unexpected bout with brain cancer will shed light on so many topics that we all deal with in our everyday lives. We dive into Jason's origins and childhood stories that shaped the majority of his adult life, the seizure that started it all, the emotional whirlwind of eventually finding out he had brain cancer, the phone call that shifted everything, and the death of a version of himself in order to truly begin living his life.

From this seminole experience Jason’s found a mission to encourage all people to ponder their dreams, examine their perceptions, and inspire everyone to rewrite their stories. He hopes others will see themselves in his journey, take it to the heart, and be inspired enough to change a life.

On July 12, 2021, Jason had a seizure which led to the discovery of a grade 4 glioblastoma… and an awakening that Jason wasn’t looking for— or was he? After a lifetime of struggling with negative thoughts and perceptions including self-loathing, weight issues, bullying, playing a victim, self-sabotage, and a bad mental attitude, Jason experienced the clarity that comes with a brain tumor. He became driven to share his story to help and inspire others. 



Jason’s mission is to encourage people to ponder their dreams, examine their perceptions, and inspire them to rewrite their stories. He hopes others will see themselves in his journey, take them to heart, and be inspired enough to take action in their own lives.
