How cells choose to divide: Assistant Professor Sabrina Spencer on cell division

from Radio1190 · host KVCU Radio 1190

CU Boulder Assistant Professor of Biochemistry Sabrina Spencer discusses her findings on how cells choose to divide and reproduce. Spencer found that the decision to divide is made during the entire mother cycle of a cell, contrary to the textbook model of cell division. However, according to Spencer, before the textbook model can be overturned, others would also have to come to a similar conclusion. "Generally, it takes more than one study to overturn these sort of things," said Spencer. Originally recorded on April 21st, 2020. Interview by John Boughey.
