He went back to his hometown in East Greenland and filmed with non-actors, used improvised dialogue, including a young performer from special education whose quiet intensity grounds the story. It becomes a vivid portrait of adolescence at the edge of the world, told by a community rarely seen on-screen. This film is so beautiful on so many levels and I’m not talking about the vast landscape of Greenland. It’s beautiful because it is so authentic.
