ABOVE THE LINE Director Reveals Why His Comedy Crime Caper Mocks the Film Industry

There is something uniquely satisfying about a film that understands the industry it is poking fun at, and Jeffrey Scott Collins' ABOVE THE LINE does exactly that with wit, charm, and a healthy dose of mischievous fun. The story follows six struggling Hollywood hopefuls whose dreams have been derailed by a crooked producer. Rather than quietly accepting defeat, they agree to a caper from an unknown source by stealing Oscar statuettes from the very man they believe ruined their careers. What unfolds is a clever blend of comedy, mystery, and heist-film intrigue that keeps audiences engaged from beginning to end. Collins demonstrates a sharp understanding of Hollywood's ambitions, frustrations, and absurdities. The film lovingly pokes fun at the entertainment industry while never becoming cynical. Instead, ABOVE THE LINE celebrates the dreamers, creators, and underdogs who continue chasing success despite the obstacles placed in their path. What makes this film particularly enjoyable is its tongue-in-cheek humor. The jokes land naturally, often drawing laughs from situations that feel all too familiar to anyone who has spent time around the film business. Yet viewers do not need insider knowledge to appreciate the comedy. General audiences will find plenty to enjoy in the film's playful energy, colorful characters, and well-crafted mystery. At its core, ABOVE THE LINE is a delightful "who-dun-it" wrapped inside a Hollywood satire. As the plot twists and turns, audiences are invited to piece together clues while enjoying the unpredictable antics of its lovable ensemble. The result is a film that never takes itself too seriously while still delivering genuine suspense. Jeffrey Scott Collins has created an entertaining crowd-pleaser that will resonate strongly with filmmakers and film lovers alike. ABOVE THE LINE is a clever reminder that in Hollywood, the line between fantasy and reality is often thinner than we think—and sometimes the greatest performance happens when the cameras aren't rolling. #comedy #crimecomedy #hollywood #entertainment #filmproducers #filmdirectors #filmmaking #filmmaker #oscars #bondoncinema #cinema

Award Winning Filmmaker Ran Jing & Her Compelling Psychological Sci-Fi Short Film IMPRINT

Ran Jing’s IMPRINT, the gripping and thought-provoking short, will make its World Premiere at the Tribeca Festival, offering a chilling exploration of ambition, sacrifice, and the hidden human cost of progress.  Set within a near-future shaped by competitive pressure and emerging technology, the film follows Flora, played by Wrenn Schmidt, a determined mother desperate to secure a competitive edge for her nine-year-old daughter, Ariel. When conventional paths fall short, Flora turns to an experimental knowledge-transfer process, purchasing expertise from Han, an immigrant navigating a precarious system that compels her to exchange her hard-earned skills for the promise of legal stability. What begins as a calculated transaction spirals into something far more disturbing. As Ariel absorbs not only knowledge but the emotional weight and trauma tied to it, the boundaries between progress and exploitation begin to collapse. Blending intimate family drama with psychological thriller, IMPRINT uses its speculative premise to explore urgent questions around ambition, privilege, and the unseen labor that underpins opportunity. Through the intersecting lives of Flora, Ariel, and Han, the film examines systemic inequality, the commodification of knowledge, and the moral compromises embedded within modern systems of success. At the heart of this is the immigrant experience, embodied through Han’s story, reflecting the harsh realities faced by those compelled to trade not just labor, but identity, history, and personal autonomy in exchange for opportunity and security. #scifi #shortfilm #film #immigrants #brainchip #cinema #filmmaking #filmmaker #filmdirector #screenwriter #psychologicalthriller #bondoncinema

ANIMALS: She invites a stranger into her home who has no intention of leaving - The Film Discussion

ANIMALS., the short psychological thriller from writer-director Maya Gray, will make its International Premiere at Raindance Film Festival, bringing audiences an unsettling and emotionally charged exploration of dehumanization, coercive control, and forced occupation. In the aftermath of her mother’s death, Zoya played by Serine Sianosian finds herself unable to confront the emptiness of the home they once shared. When Amelia played by Rachel Alig, a mysterious stranger claiming to have rented the house through Airbnb, unexpectedly arrives at her door, Zoya reluctantly invites her to stay the night. But as one evening stretches into an indefinite occupation, their uneasy companionship spirals into a disturbing power struggle defined by manipulation, control, and emotional brutality. Blending psychological horror and social commentary, ANIMALS. interrogates themes of abuse, domination, grief, colonization, and the bystander effect, challenging audiences to confront the ways modern society has become desensitized to suffering and injustice. I can guarantee that audiences will feel uneasy and squirming in their seats, but will also become angry. We want to jump and help Zoya, but our hands are tied to do anything about it. This film is a mixture of emotions, but feeling helpless and angry are the things I feel when I watch it and this is film many will be talking about once they leave the theater and that’s true cinema. #psychologicalhorror #thriller #suspensethriller #airbnb #film #cinema #filmmaking #filmmaker #actor #acting #mentalillness #colonization #injustice #squatters #cinematography

A Married Man Meets His First Love Again... LOVE SONG Interview with Love Nafi and Mohamed Williams

Some films entertain. Some films linger. And then there are films like LOVE SONG—stories that quietly settle into your heart and continue to resonate long after the screen fades to black. Filmmaker Love Nafi and actor Mohamed Williams have created something remarkably honest: a film that understands that love is rarely simple, and that the choices we make in pursuit of our dreams often come with consequences we never fully anticipate. What begins as a chance encounter between a married music producer and a former love becomes a profound exploration of identity, sacrifice, longing, and the delicate balance between responsibility and desire. What makes LOVE SONG so powerful is its refusal to offer easy answers. Instead, it invites us to sit with difficult questions. How much of ourselves do we give away to meet the expectations of others? What happens when creative passion collides with family obligations? And can we ever truly leave the past behind when it still holds a piece of our heart? Love Nafi’s vision is deeply personal, yet universally relatable. By presenting emotionally layered Black fathers, complex Black women, and artists struggling to reconcile who they are with who the world expects them to be, LOVE SONG challenges conventional narratives while celebrating the beauty and messiness of authentic human connection. This is a film about memory, ambition, vulnerability, and truth. Above all, it is a reminder that love is not always about perfection—it is about courage, honesty, and the willingness to confront the life we have chosen and the life we may have left behind. LOVE SONG is an exceptional achievement, and one that deserves to be seen, discussed, and remembered. #shortfilm #lovesong #lovestory #encounter #firstlove #filmmaking #filmmaker #actor #acting #filmdirector #soundtrack #cinema #bondoncinema

Set along Norway's west coast, SANDY FANNIES follows sixteen-year-old Aurora, played by Jenny Evensen and her mother played by Silje Breivick during a day spent naked on a secluded beach, far removed from the routines and distractions of everyday life. 3As their conversation grows increasingly candid, discussions of sex, love, and past mistakes begin to unsettle the familiar roles of parent and child. Daniel Audritt & Kat Butterfield Discuss the Award-Winning Short LIFE GOES ON

LIFE GOES ON could be compared to Groundhog Day, as it’s not about time, but about personal transformation.  One of the film's strongest themes is that people often assume their loved ones already know how they feel. Yet many people reach the end of life with words left unsaid: "I love you," "I'm proud of you," "Thank you," or "I'm sorry." Again, the time loop becomes a dramatization of that reality. Bill is given endless opportunities until he learns to express what truly matters. Allow me to take the interpretation of this film one step further. The film is not only about others wanting to hear that we love them. It is also about our own need to say it. The act of expressing love, gratitude, or forgiveness liberates both the listener and the speaker. Bill appears trapped because he is holding something back; the loop forces him to stop postponing those conversations. In that sense, Life Goes On is closer to Groundhog Day than many time-loop stories. The loop is not primarily about time—it is about personal transformation. Bill cannot move forward until he learns what truly gives life meaning. The time loop in Life Goes On isn't a curse of time; it's a metaphor for emotional procrastination. Bill keeps reliving the same day because he still has something essential left to say. LIFE GOES ON suggests that the words people most need to hear are often the words we assume can wait until tomorrow. But the reality is, tomorrow is already here. #shortfilm #timeloop #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #iloveyou #cinema #bondoncinema #raindancefilmfestival #filmfestival

Inside the Making of the Short Film GETAR HERO: Exclusive Tribeca Interview

On the surface, it is the story of a man standing at a crossroads, forced to choose between the destiny he has long imagined for himself and the responsibility he feels toward the people he loves. But beneath that choice lies something far more universal—the quiet sacrifices that define so many lives. What makes Getar Hero such a remarkable achievement is its understanding that the most profound battles are often fought in silence. Not every hero is called to conquer the world. Sometimes heroism is found in the willingness to put aside personal ambition for the sake of family, even when the cost is heartbreaking. Teddy Stern captures that emotional truth with extraordinary compassion, grace, and authenticity. The film never tells us what to feel. Instead, it invites us to walk alongside its protagonist, to wrestle with the same questions of purpose, love, obligation, and identity. In doing so, it reminds us that life’s greatest decisions rarely come with easy answers. Getar Hero is a beautifully crafted and deeply human film—one that lingers long after the credits roll. It is a testament to the power of storytelling and a shining example of why cinema remains one of our most profound mirrors of the human experience. #shortfilm #film #filmfestival #tribeca #tribecafilmfestival #getarhero #cowboy #mumbai #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #dreams #duty

Patrick McGilligan on Sydney Pollack: Collected Interviews | The Director Behind the Legend

My guest today is Patrick McGilligan, a film biographer and historian. His many works include the New York Times Notable Books George Cukor: A Double Life and Fritz Lang: The Nature of the Beast, the Edgar Award finalist Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light, and the life stories of Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Robert Altman, Oscar Micheaux, Mel Brooks, and Woody Allen.  Patrick is also editor of the University Press of Kentucky’s Screen Classics—a series of critical biographies, film histories, and analytical studies focusing on neglected filmmakers and important screen artists and subjects, from the era of silent cinema to the golden age of Hollywood to the international generation of today. He is here today to discuss this newest book, of collected interviews of Sydney Pollack. Patrick and his co-editor Paul Cronin put this amazing read together. I want to thank Patrick McGilligan for sharing his insights into Sydney Pollack: Collected Interviews, a book that I found not only fascinating but deeply inspiring. For filmmakers, directors, actors, and anyone who loves the craft of cinema, this collection offers a rare opportunity to sit in the room with one of Hollywood's most thoughtful storytellers. What struck me most throughout these interviews is Pollack's unwavering commitment to truth. He understood that great filmmaking isn't about spectacle alone—it's about humanity. And perhaps one of the most valuable lessons found within these pages is his belief that acting is not simply performing. It's discovering the essence of a character. Sometimes that means speaking volumes with silence, trusting stillness, and allowing authenticity to take center stage. This book reminds us that great cinema is built on observation, patience, and an understanding of human behavior. Whether you're an emerging filmmaker or a seasoned professional, there is wisdom here that can reshape how you approach storytelling. I wholeheartedly encourage filmmakers everywhere to read Sydney Pollack: Collected Interviews. You may come away with a deeper appreciation for Pollack's legacy, but more importantly, you may discover new inspiration for your own creative journey. #sydneypollack #tomcruise #stanleykubrick #eyeswideshut #thefirm #tootsie #jeremiahjohnson #robertredford #barbrastreisand #thewaywewere #filmmaker #filmdirector #actor #screenwriter

Nick Davis' Documentary THIS ORDINARY THING Highlights Individual Heroism from those who Saved the Jews from the Holocaust

Nick Davis’ THIS ORDINARY THING leaves us with a truth that is both inspiring and deeply unsettling. The Holocaust did not begin with concentration camps. It began with hatred tolerated, prejudice ignored, and the gradual acceptance of the idea that some lives mattered less than others. What makes this documentary so powerful is that it reminds us that history is not simply a collection of dates and events. History is made by ordinary people making extraordinary choices. During one of humanity's darkest chapters, there were men and women who risked everything to do what was right. They opened their homes, hid families in attics and basements, forged documents, shared precious food, and placed their own lives—and the lives of their loved ones—in jeopardy to save complete strangers. Their courage was not born from power or privilege. It was born from conscience. The title This Ordinary Thing serves as a reminder that heroism is often found in the most ordinary acts of compassion. A door opened. A hand extended. A life protected. As we watch the rise of division, intolerance, and antisemitism in various parts of the world today, films like this become more than historical documentaries—they become warnings. They challenge us to recognize the signs that previous generations failed to confront before it was too late. The responsibility of remembrance does not belong only to survivors or historians. It belongs to all of us. By remembering those who suffered, and honoring those who stood against evil when it was dangerous to do so, we help ensure that their stories continue to guide future generations. Because history should never repeat itself. And sometimes, the most extraordinary thing we can do is refuse to remain silent when humanity is at stake. And one who saves one life, saves the entire world. #WW2 #holiocaust #germany #heroism #film #filmdocumentary #history

4-Part Docu-Series BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey with Co-Director Sadhvi Siddahli Shree

Many women feel isolated by their symptoms, but this conversation offers a necessary perspective on why you are not alone in this experience. Understanding your perimenopause symptoms can feel overwhelming, but this discussion highlights the importance of shared experiences in managing these changes. By watching this, you gain insight into the broader conversation surrounding women's health and the resources available to help you find balance. Whether you are seeking validation or practical awareness, this look at the documentary provides a supportive starting point for your own health path. The doc-series BALANCE was created by Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti, award-winning monk-filmmakers. Upon discovering their low hormone levels are caused by perimenopause, two monks seek to regain balance over their lives while suffering from symptoms of sleeplessness, anxiety, and fatigue. Searching for answers, the monks are hit with roadblocks of misinformation, lack of education, and inequality throughout the medical system. They find that a cancelled study by the Women's Health Initiative in 2002 is largely responsible for the harsh views on hormone therapy, and seek out doctors from all backgrounds to help squash the lies. Through these conversations, their own journeys on hormone therapy and using natural lifestyle changes, plus conversations with fellow patients who are suffering from intense symptoms, the monks take on the challenge of stopping misinformation, fighting medical injustice, and educating women on how to make the best choices to live the lives they deserve. #menopause #perimenopause #perimenopausejourney #perimenpauserelief #health #medicine #hormones #hormonehealth #hormonebalance #hormonereplacement #hormonereplacementtherapy

Liron Topaz'a Animated Short SABA: Finding Closure and Moving Forward in an Upside Down World

Liron Topaz’s animated short film, an official selection at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, SABA takes us into an abstract and symbolic world where gravity is reversed, a unique bond forms between a grandfather and his grandson. As Saba, the grandfather guides the boy through this surreal reality, a violent storm strikes, tearing one of the ropes anchoring their home - and with it, their life together. After suffering a devastating loss of Saba, the boy embarks on an emotional journey in search of closure. Through a stylized and poetic visual language, the film explores life's fundamental questions: the paths we take, separation from those we love, and the endless effort to find closure, reconcile loss, and move forward. The film has strong sexual overtones, but the acting performance from Ethan truly outshines the storyline. The film is both sci-fi, drama, and a bit campy, but that’s what makes for a future cult film become a classic. Ethan Daniel Corbett is an award-winning actor and producer. He obtained a scholarship to study a BFA in Musical Theatre at California State University, Fullerton, one of the top Theatre Programs in the nation. A Visual & Audio Feast for the Eyes: Welsey Wang's Animated Violet & Marlowe Rob a Bank Short Film

Wesley Wang’s incredible short film VIOLET AND MARLOWE ROB A BANK brings with it a wildly inventive story of resistance, partnership, and survival. Blending action, satire, and music with a striking animated style, the film offers a sharp and unexpected take on power and rebellion through an entirely original lens. What begins as a series of daring factory heists quickly evolves into a larger act of defiance, as Violet and Marlowe challenge a system built on control and scarcity. Beneath its playful premise, the film taps into something more pointed, exploring inequality, resource hoarding, and the lengths people will go to reclaim autonomy. At its core, the film is about partnership under pressure. Violet and Marlowe’s relationship grounds the story emotionally, giving weight to the chaos around them. Their dynamic is messy, funny, and deeply human, even within an animated world, capturing the push and pull of two people bound together by both love and survival. Wang balances high-energy storytelling with moments of character-driven nuance, allowing the film to land both as spectacle and as something more personal. #animation #shortfilm #animatedshort #tribeca #film #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #cinema #bondoncinema #movie #filmfestival

FAULT Short Film with Director Misha Calvert and Actress Coco Jourdana Discuss the Emotional Power of the Primal Scream

The emotionally charged and confrontational short film FAULT, written and directed by Misha Calvert and inspired by the personal experience of its lead actress Coco Jourdana, makes its World Premiere at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival. Set within the high-pressure world of elite tennis, the film takes an unflinching look at the complexity of assault and the long-lasting and potentially damaging control coaches have over athletes.  FAULT follows Steph, a world-renowned tennis champion preparing for the U.S. Open, whose tightly controlled life begins to unravel when her estranged sister Gigi arrives. As their strained reunion gradually flies off the rails, Steph is forced to confront her relationship with her coach and choose between protecting the successful life she's built or potentially losing it all by going public about her coach’s abuse. At its core, FAULT examines how individuals process trauma in radically different ways. Through the opposing emotional landscapes of Steph and Gigi, the film explores the unseen experience of assault victims, offering a gut-wrenching performance from its two female leads. Starring alongside Coco Jourdana is Sarah Rich a Steph, whose credits include Purple Hearts on Netflix and #Like on Amazon Prime. Sarah Rich ground sthe film’s emotional intensity in a beautifully layered performance, channeling the fierce competition of women’s tennis alongside an emotional rigidity that finally cracks open in a cathartic final sequence. There are only a handful of short films that I see each year that leave a lasting impression. Both the storyline and brilliant acting from both Sarah Rich and Coco Jourdana bring the realism that the #MeToo movement is still here. In the world of the male dominated film industry, female filmmakers are bringing the best stories to the forefront and the short film FAULT is so powerful that this one could easily be a feature film. #tennis #sports #sexualassaultsurvivor #film #cinema #cinematography #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #actor #actress #bondoncinema #filmfestival #tribeca #amazonprime

Rosa Brooke's Short Film BIRTHDAY BOY Explores Identity When No One is Paying Attention

Rosa Brooke’s short film BIRTHDAY BOY is about Rae, an artist going through an identity crisis. They’re unsure of their gender, struggling to find success, and starting to feel a little invisible. It’s Rae’s birthday, and when their father Jeff Culliton comes to visit, along with his troubled wife Mandy, things start to deteriorate. Tragedy strikes the house within minutes, but Jeff insists that they stick to the birthday plan: a family meal at his favorite Mexican restaurant. As the day goes on, Rae fights to hold the family together, comfort their grieving partner Alice Russell, keep an eye on the increasingly-drunken Mandy, and deal with the non-stop stress of Jeff’s personality, all while being ignored and misunderstood by everyone around them; until the tension bursts and they finally confront their father, with awkward results. I love how focused this story is in this film, even amongst the chaos. Every scene had a nuance or element that shows us that a person’s identity and presence matters. The cinematography is excellent, but it’s the dialogue and the acting that make this short film shine. It was a joy to watch and contains many life lessons that are brought forth in the most subtle of ways. When Tony is confronted with his fertility issues, he turns to Marvin, a mysterious oyster dealer whose products promise virility — but deliver far more than Tony or Linda expected. Alastair Train’s PEARLS is an out of the box horror short and the big surprise for me is I didn’t know it was a horror film before I watched it. And I loved that as sometimes I won’t read the synopsis so I can watch the film the first time, just like an audience would at a film festival. Then of course I go back to rewatch to find all the cool elements of the storytelling. The storytelling is excellent, the cinematography is at a high level and the special effects and prosthetics are incredible and gives this film the feel of a feature film. #horror #horrorshort #horrorfilm #film #cinema #pearls #oysters #fertility #virility #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #desire #bondoncinema

The Song of Hiawatha: The First Black Hippie Film Documentary - An Interview with the Creators

The Song of Hiawatha tells the story of the life and (high) times of the first black hippie. It includes original music, never seen photos, an FBI file, a letter from J. Edgar Hoover, and testimonials from Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Wayne Kramer, Niagara, John Sinclair, and others. The documentary traces Hiawatha Bailey’s path as part of the African-American “great migration” from the Deep South to Detroit in the 1950s, to “turning on” to LSD and joining a commune in 1965, and becoming the only Black member of the leftist revolutionary cadre known as the White Panthers in 1968. He served a four-year prison term, and then formed the Cult Heroes, a seminal Detroit punk rock band, in 1978. True to the time, the film floats along in a psychedelic haze as it touches on sensitive issues of race, rock, radicalism, sexual identity, prison life, and antiquated drug laws. Documents featured in the film include a letter from FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, an FBI report, a landmark Supreme Court decision, a contract signed by John Lennon, previously unreleased music by Hiawatha with the Cult Heroes (including a live performance), and many never before seen photos. #punkrock #documentary #filmdocumentar #hiawathabailey #film #filmmaking #filmmaker #filmdirector #punkrockscene #LSD #popculture

Director Harald Swinkels Reveals the Horrific Truth Hidden in Plain Sight in His Film ODESSA

Our guest today is Harold Swinkels, a Dutch writer and director, whose shortfilm "ODESSA" has garnered significant international acclaim. This unique movie, stands as a testament to his innovative film making style. We discuss his journey and the creative process behind his award-winning work, which has been recognized at numerous film festival events. In the wake of WWII, a devoted father guides his fleeing family across the Dolomites. He is gentle with his son. And running for a reason. Odessa follows a fleeing family navigating a fractured and dangerous world, as Josef, his wife Irene, and their young son Rolf journey across rugged terrain in search of safety. What begins as a tense and emotional survival story gradually transforms into something far more complex and unsettling. As moments of kindness and sanctuary give way to suspicion and pursuit, the film quietly destabilizes the audience’s sense of trust, culminating in a powerful and disquieting revelation that reframes everything that came before. At its core, Odessa interrogates the nature of empathy and the dangers of surface-level judgment. The film invites audiences to confront their own instincts: who we choose to trust, why we extend compassion, and how easily those instincts can be manipulated. By aligning viewers with a family in crisis, Odessa deliberately draws them into an emotional perspective that becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile. ODESSA is a haunting film. On the outside, just a family fleeing to another country for a better life. But on the inside, the father carries with him one of the most horrific secrets and crimes known to mankind. And yet, he is a father who wants the best for his wife and son. But he never considered the use of empathy when he was sending others to the crematories or firing squads or his medical experiments. ODESSA shows how complex human nature is and what we see is brilliant storytelling and filmmaking. As Harald has stated, monsters don’t come dressed as monsters and by the time we realize who they are, it’s usually too late.#film #cinema #filmmaking #filmdirector #interview #bondoncinema #movie #filmmaker #friendship #wwii #wwiihistory #josefmengele #auschwitz #austria #italy #dolomites #alps #odessa #ssofficial #concentrationcamps

Director Paige Morrow Kimball Discusses Her Powerful Short WAIT: Hope and Healing after Shame & Guilt

Paige Morrow Kimball’s WAIT is a powerful short film. When the main character Evie agrees to meet Matt, a guy from her past, Evie, 23, harbors a deep trauma. She agrees to meet Matt, 25, the guy who sexually assaulted her in high school, for an apology seven years in the making. Bubbling just beneath is a rawer version of Evie, her 16 year old self, who says what adult Evie is too afraid to say. Matt doesn’t remember what he did, only that “something happened.” Once a rising musician, Matt was derailed by drugs, alcohol, and a guilt he couldn’t name. Evie takes him back to that night and as past and present blur, she confronts her rage, and misplaced shame, as the 16 year old Evie urges her to speak the truth that might set her free. At its core, WAIT is about silence, shame, and what happens when those things stay buried. But it’s also about hope and the possibility of healing. I want audiences to walk away feeling that even the hardest experiences can be spoken, and that when they are, something begins to shift. Silence prevents healing in the victim. The silence is multi-facet from no one believing you or just trying to hide the fact that it happened. #film #filmmaker #filmdirector #filmmaking #cinema #bondoncinema #cinematography #storytelling #sexualassaultsurvivor #intimacycoordinator

Director Kendra Monet Discusses Her Short Film ATTACHED - A Psychological Thriller

Kendra Monet’s psychological short film ATTACHED, centers around a woman in her mid to late twenties named Draya. She is a struggling actress and recently broke up with her longtime boyfriend Davon. She deals with the anxieties of everyday life and healing from a relationship that continues to haunt her. The film opens with a flashback of Draya killing her ex-boyfriend Davon after an argument that ends their relationship. A dark metaphor for Draya's complex emotions of love and loss. Davon continues to haunt her throughout the film as an eerie reminder of the past. At the same time, Draya faces the harsh reality of rejection from acting auditions and the uncertainty of her own future. The possibility of eviction looms over her as she tries to pick up the pieces of her life and cope with how she can move forward to create the life that she has always dreamed of. Attached chronicles the journey of a young woman seeking to discover herself and heal from the constant rejection and reclaim the lack of control that she constantly feels over her own life. The complex emotional landscape of Draya provides audiences a mirror into their experiences with a horrifying twist that elevates and heightens our own insecurities, fears and anxieties about our own unknown reality. ATTACHED has a wonderful and relatable storyline. The cinematography looks and feels like a feature film which I love. The acting is on point in every scene and the music score and choice of songs fit the vibe of the whole film. #suspensethriller #psychologicalthriller #thriller #shortfilm #film #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #filmproduction #bondoncinema #cinema #cinematography

Actress Eva Birthistle & Director Colin McIvor Discuss the Northern Irish Feature Film NO ORDINARY HEIST

We sit down with director Colin McIvor and actress Eva Birthistle to discuss their exciting new film, "No Ordinary Heist." This new film is based on the true story of the 2004 Northern Bank robbery, offering a fresh take on a notorious bank heist. Get ready for a thrilling cinematic experience! Anchored by a quietly commanding turn from Eddie Marsan and guided with a steady, assured hand by Colin McIvor, NO ORDINARY HEIST proves to be far more than a retelling of a notorious crime—it’s a deeply human story wrapped in tension and restraint. Eddie Marsan brings a layered vulnerability to Richard Murray, capturing the silent unraveling of a man caught in unimaginable circumstances, while Colin McIvor resists spectacle in favor of authenticity and emotional truth. What emerges is a gripping, character-driven drama that lingers long after the credits roll. For audiences seeking a crime film with substance, nuance, and a powerful central performance, NO ORDINARY HEIST is well worth the watch. The Chaplain & The Doctor: Two Unlikely Allies Expose Broken Healthcare

THE CHAPLAIN AND THE DOCTOR is filled with warmth and humor, this buddy film follows two unlikely allies working to bring curiosity, connection, and compassion to a broken healthcare system - one patient at a time. Betty Clark is an 80-year-old, African American chaplain on staff at The Wilma Chan Highland Hospital Campus, the level-one trauma center in Oakland, California. Jessica Zitter is a white Jewish physician who has been Betty’s colleague on the Palliative Care service for over a decade. The two women are an unlikely team: chaplains and doctors do not usually pair up within the hierarchical and siloed halls of the hospital. Dr. Zitter, trained to believe in medical interventions and science, was not seeking a relationship with a chaplain. And Chaplain Clark never expected the doctor to take interest in her work.  But with time, the two women’s shared values and history overcome the forces that keep them apart, and they go on to do their best work together.  THE CHAPLAIN & THE DOCTOR models a new kind of care, one that honors both spirit and body, the diverse backgrounds of patients, and the most human needs we all share.  This is a must see film documentary not just about the story of two women who take their purpose and professions to help others, but we see that it help each other to become even better versions of themselves. #healtcare #doctor #chaplain #documentary #film #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #bondoncinema #medicine #faith #spiritual #healing

Aaron Wheeler’s latest feature documentary, THE EDGE OF EXISTENCE, tells the story of electronics lecturer Cam Cameron, as he attempts to survive on the UK’s most remote and dangerous island, Rockall, for a record 50 days to prove his strength to himself and inspire his family. This story attempts to understand the nature of adventure itself in an attempt to explore the true costs and benefits of such a journey into the unknown. This film is about man versus nature, but also man versus himself. There are those brave souls that attempt things that many of feel don’t make any sense, but if there is a mountain, it is meant to be climbed. Matthew Simpson Made a Psychological Thriller With NOTHING: No Crew, No Cast, No Budget

Matthew Simpson's DISREMEMBER is a feature film about an ex-military alcoholic begins experiencing unexplained blackouts, and the more he tries to stop them, the worse they get, until he realizes they are being triggered by a trauma his mind is fighting to forget. What makes this film so amazing is, it is top quality in every way and to remind you, this film has no crew, no cast and was done with no budget. Matthew Simpson did what many may say is impossible, but what Matthew Simpson has done is change the filmmaking game. Yes, you can make an incredible with no budget. All it takes is hard work and creativity and never giving up. But what about the overall movie and storyline? This film is a psychological thriller that keeps your attention. Having a split personality disorder creates a double storyline and then there’s the third, which I will say what it is as I don’t want to spoil the ending of the film. T he cinematography is top notch, the colorization, the music score, and incredible editing. Every filmmaker can learn something from DISREMEMBER. And what can you learn? Well, that is only takes creativity to make a great film. #featurefilm #independentfilm #film #cinema #filmmaking #filmmaker #filmdirector #actor #screenwriter #filmindustry #bondoncinema #cinematography

Sam Hayes' POOLS Feature Film Interview | Is he the Modern Day John Hughes?

Sam Hayes’ feature film POOLS is about a young woman Kennedy who has one day to get herself together or get kicked out of school for good. Instead of buckling down, she rallies a ragtag crew for a midnight pool-hopping adventure through the lavish estates of her college town. But under the surface, Kennedy is searching for answers to the questions tearing her up inside in the wake of her father's death. As the secrets spill, this wild escape becomes a cathartic journey of self-discovery. I love coming-of-age stories and this one is full of realism and many young people today will fully relate to the wonderful storyline Sam Hayes has brought to the silver screen. Hollywood needs to make more films like this one. Remember the days of The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, St. Elmo’s Fire and now we have POOLS. Director Ali Marsh discusses her short PITTSBURGH | A Coming of Age Story of a 9 Year Old Girl

Ali Marsh’s PITTSBURGH is both a period piece and a coming of age story all rolled into one. It’s 1979 and scrappy 9-year-old Mints is eager to wrap up a visit with her needy divorced dad. Mints' solo flight home is re-routed to Pittsburgh, where for one chaotic night she is left in the care of a boozy stewardess and a hard-nosed Granny. As she witnesses the unreliability of the adults around her, she becomes her own protector, leading her to make a pivotal decision. Javier Cano Larumbe on Creating VOID

The haunting psychological horror short VOID, written and directed by Javier Cano Larumbe, has been officially selected for the Cleveland International Film Festival. Drawing directly from the director’s childhood experience of navigating his parents’ divorce, the film transforms personal memory into a chilling exploration of fear, emotional isolation, and the inner world of a child struggling to be heard. VOID follows eight-year-old Félix, a boy who becomes convinced that a sinister presence has taken hold in his home. While the adults around him remain distracted and unaware, Félix is left to confront a darkness that feels both external and deeply internal. What begins as a familiar childhood fear of the dark evolves into something more complex and unsettling, a manifestation of confusion, anxiety, and the unspoken emotional turmoil of a family in crisis. At its core, the film examines the disconnect between children and adults in moments of upheaval. Through the lens of horror, Javier Cano Larumbe explores how children often lack the language to articulate their emotions, while adults fail to recognize the depth of what is being expressed. The result is a powerful metaphorical narrative in which fear becomes the only available form of communication. I found this film refreshing with it’s focused storytelling and using the horror element to convey an important message to parents who are going through divorce. Learn to listen to your children and realize they are dealing with your current situation as well as its aftermath. The film is haunting, but a very powerful short film and this is another film I will be keeping my eyes on through the film festival season. #shortfilm #film #cinema #pyschologicalhorror #psychologicalthriller #suspensethriller #filmmaking #filmmaker #filmdirector #filmproducer #bondoncinema #filmfestival

Filmmaker Benny Chen's short HAND: Navigating the Realities of life in the USA in a time of Anti-Asian Hate

HAND follows Lin, a middle-aged undocumented cook working in a small Chinese restaurant in California, as he struggles to navigate the realities of life in the United States. Caught between the demands of economic survival and a deepening sense of isolation, he begins to confront the personal cost of remaining invisible in a society where anti-Asian hostility continues to rise beyond his workplace. Through this intimate portrait, the film explores the tensions of immigrant life and reveals how dignity, fear, and resilience coexist under constant pressure. It’s hard to fathom that we are still living in a society where racism is strong as ever. America has always been the land of opportunity, but today’s social climate is causing us to forget who we really are as people and as Americans. Benny Chen’s short film HAND is a powerful reminder that we have not grown as a people, possibly regressed as one. We need more films like this one to remind us that empathy, kindness and compassion can go a long way in making those who are coming to the land of opportunity feel welcome. #antiasianhate #asian #shortfilm #shortfilms #film #cinema #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #society #america #empathy #kindness

Anna Rodgers Discusses GRACE, a short film about Love and Disabilities

GRACE follows a woman in her late twenties with Down Syndrome as she navigates adulthood, independence, and her first serious romantic relationship. As Grace (Fiadhnait Canning) grows closer to her boyfriend Tommy, their relationship is met with hesitation from those around them, who continue to make decisions on their behalf believing they are acting in their best interest. As she begins to find her voice, Grace pushes back against these constraints, challenging long-held assumptions about her capacity and autonomy to define her own life. The film is grounded in the context of Ireland’s Assisted Decision-Making Act 2015, enacted in 2023, which affirms that all adults have the right to make decisions about their own lives. Through Grace’s journey, the film reflects a broader societal shift toward autonomy, dignity, and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities especially when it comes to romantic experiences. Making her screen debut, Fiadhnait Canning is a 28-year-old woman with Down Syndrome, an advocate, and a public speaker on inclusion and disability. She holds a certificate in Psychology from Yale University and is the author of In My Own Words. Her co-star Luca Malocco Mulville is also an actor with an intellectual disability and performs the role of the boyfriend Tommy in his first on screen role. This is one of most powerful short films I have ever seen. The depth of story and the depth of conversation this film brings to the forefront is something we can no longer ignore. Our world lacks empathy and it lacks understanding, because many people today live by assumptions, stereotypes  and are unwilling to listen and learn. GRACE opens up that conversation on a grand scale. Yes, this film brought tears to my eyes, not in sadness, but in opening my eyes of understanding. The film is beautiful on every level. The story, the acting, the cinematography, the music score, but more importantly, its message to the world. Filmmakers Eliza Power & Philip Clyde-Smith Discuss their Horror-Comedy Short A HAND TO HOLD

The dark comedy horror short A Hand to Hold, written by playwright Eliza Power and directed by award-winning filmmaker Philip Clyde-Smith, has been officially selected for the 50th edition of the Cleveland International Film Festival. Blending sharp humor, cinematic storytelling, and striking Hollywood-grade makeup and special effects, the film delivers a bold genre experience that mixes laughs with unsettling horror. With its mix of sharp comedy, striking practical effects, and an accomplished cast and creative team, A Hand to Hold promises audiences a wickedly entertaining genre short that proves horror and humor can be a perfect match. We are seeing a rise in horror comedy short films and thank goodness for that as we need to let our dark side laugh a little bit more. A HAND TO HOLD is short film with the storyline, look and feel of a top-rated feature film and I could see this short being created as a feature film. This short was just the tip of the iceberg as I can see so much more dark humor come out of this story. Everything about A HAND TO HOLD was done with excellence from the acting, cinematography, special effects and even the ending song just capped off a stellar film that you have got to see to believe. This film is a rarity as it’s an action-comedy something I do too often if ever in the short film genre, but it is a breath of fresh air for this category that is usually lined with grief and depression. It’s nice to laugh and see a bit of action at the same time. The cinematography is top notch and I would expect it to be when I read over Thomas Lorber very long resume. A short film that has the look and feel of a feature film. When this film appears at a film festival near you, check it out as it’s great to leave the theater with a smile on your face. #shortfilm #actionfilm #comedy #actioncomedy #film #cinema #filmmaking #filmmaker #stuntman #stuntcoordinator #filmdirector #cinephile #hollywood #filmcritic #bondoncinema

Sarah Benjamin on Making MEOW | A Hadisic girl Searches for a Cat and Meets a Worldly Teen

Sarah Benjamin’s short film MEOW is a quiet reminder that a story does not need grandeur to leave a lasting mark—it only needs truth, contrast, and a willingness to explore the unknown. What begins as a simple search for a lost cat becomes something far more layered: a moment of crossing, of curiosity, of subtle transformation. Through Shir, we glimpse a life shaped by structure and tradition—one that meets, perhaps for the first time, the unpredictable rhythm of a world beyond its boundaries. And in Bambi, we encounter a force that is at once confusing and compelling—bold, elusive, and impossible to define in just one way. It is within that tension—between restraint and freedom, innocence and experience—that MEOW finds its voice. The night itself becomes a character, captured through evocative cinematography and carefully balanced light, illuminating not just two figures on a journey, but two entirely different ways of seeing the world. And perhaps that is what lingers most: not a single answer, but a feeling. A question. A quiet realization that sometimes, the smallest encounters can open the widest doors. #shortfilm #filmmaker #movie #filmdirector #film #bondoncinema #filmmaking #jerusalem #hadisic #cinema #cinematography #storytelling

UAE Director Nayla Al Khaja's discusses her NEW Psychological Thriller BAAB

adies and gentlemen, my guest today is Naila Al-Khaja, the first female film director in the United Arab Emirates. We discuss her latest psychological drama film, 'BAAB', co-written by Masad Amir Allah. This conversation offers valuable screenwriting advice and insights into movie storytelling. Nayla Al Khaja’s BAAB is a haunting psychological dark fantasy that unfolds through the fractured mind of a woman reeling from the sudden death of her twin sister. Plagued by the eerie hum of tinnitus in her left ear, she is drawn into a surreal world where grief takes on physical form. As she descends through three visceral stages, depression, anger, and bargaining, her reality begins to distort, blurring the line between the living and the dead. Set in an isolated Emirati landscape steeped in myth and memory, BAAB explores the intimate violence of grief and the unspoken bond between twins. What begins as a psychological unraveling soon reveals something more otherworldly, a doorway ("BAAB" in Arabic) that may lead to closure... or something far more unsettling. The storyline is captivating and the cinematography is beautiful and surreal, enhancing the overall story. #thriller #psychologicalhorror #film #filmmaker #interview #filmdirector #movie #bondoncinema #film #filmmaking #cinema #cinematography #UAE

Director Alex Alouni & Producer Adrian Clark Discuss the Making of their short film BUKRA

Ladies and gentlemen, BUKRA is about Amal, a your Syrian refugee who wins a soccer ball in a sweepstakes, and must race to claim her prize and play one final game with her best friend before he's gone forever. Set in a Syrian refugee camp in Turkey, Bukra tells the story of 11-year-old Amal, whose greatest dream is to play soccer with a real ball rather than the one she and her best friend Fouad crafted from scraps of cloth and twine. When she spots a message under her cola bottle cap promising a chance to win an official World Cup soccer ball, what once felt impossible suddenly seems within reach. Driven by hope, Amal sets out on a journey to the city to claim her prize, unintentionally creating a distance that strains her friendship with Fouad and deepens her longing for a closer connection with her father. This film is full of life lessons and it shows that sometimes when we have our eye on the ball, we miss the most important elements and/or relationships around us. #shortfilm #film #cinema #bondoncinema #syrian #refugees #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmdirector #filmproducer #family #soccer  Everything about this film was done right. The storytelling is perfect, the casting was spot on and the intertwining of the multiple storylines are easy to follow by the audience. The cinematography is top notch and I expect this film to win some awards during its film festival run this year.
